Saturday 10 March was Toy and Utility day at Crufts 2018. Below is a round up of all the winners and the day’s biggest stories.
Inside the ring
The winner of the Utility group was Chanel the Akita. Reserve in the group went to the Standard Poodle; 3rd was the Miniature Poodle, and 4th was the Toy Poodle. You can watch the full group judging here.
Team White (Huzzah, Hope, and Maddog) didn’t get any placings, but it was lovely to see two other white Miniature Schnauzers placed in Yearling Dog and Veteran Bitch.
The Scruffts Family Crossbreed Dog of the Year title was won by Jack, the Good Citizen Dog.
The International Junior Handling Competition was won by 15-year old Antonio Ribeiro, the competitor from Portugal.
The three high profile breeds in the Toy and Utility groups all passed their vet checks. As there are no high profile breeds in the Gundog group, this meant that none of the dogs failed their tests this year.
Full results for all events can be found here.
Outside the ring
The Kennel Club highlighted how the sport of agility can be good for weight loss.
Dog trainer Gill Raddings attended with some of her canine film and TV stars.
